ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT TRAINEE

Our Client, major company in oil & gas services field is looking for employees, who are committed, motivated and willing to do Technical work (more technical than maritime work) while on board construction vessels, so that they have the will to continue to grow in the company. We are looking for someone who is also willing to take on responsibility in due time as well as willing to lead others.

Assistant trainee is expected to be on board the ship most of the time handling technical duties and not at an office. Interested applications who would have to accept a role where they would essentially be expected to work on board a vessel for many years.  Many people seem to think it’s just an entry level role and that one day they would return to onshore work, but that’s not the case in this role. Even though the position starts out being a lower level, it’s one of the few cases where there is an expected plan for promotions, etc and ends up in quite a distinguish and high role on board of the vessel.

MISSION

▪ Coordinate work and manpower on board for the assigned shift in compliance with Project specification, in order to ensure efficient performance and respecting HSE and Quality procedures and practices

 REQUIREMENTS

  • Young graduates
  • Preferably with civil, mechanical, electrical or naval engineering background
  • Fluent in English
  • 1 or 2 years of prior experience in the oil & gas business could be a plus but it’s not mandatory

The candidates should have at least High School Diploma, Vocational course and/or  Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical or Naval Engineering educational background and fluent in English.

AFTER RECEIVING THE TRAINING ON THE JOB, THE EMPLOYEE WILL HAVE TO FULFILL THE FOLLOWING TASKS

▪ Assist the Offshore Constr. Superintendent with regard to interdisciplinary coordination of all works on board

▪ Supervise the team of Foremen with regard to the various disciplines/categories of construction and assembly work, in order to comply with the quality and safety standard

▪ Coordinate the construction activities during the shift and optimize all production phases

▪ Ensure that the Offshore Constr. Superintendent is kept fully informed of potential problems and construction status

▪ Liaise with Chief mate, 1st Engineer and Vessel Equipment Engineer in order to ensure preventive maintenance and construction activities

▪ Liaise with Subcontractor Supervisor (ROV Welding, NDT, and Coating) to optimize smooth production

▪ Solve matters related to coordination, priority and interface between the different disciplines in order to meet the scopes of the project

▪ Motivate all construction crew/subcontractors with regards to health, safety and environment awareness

▪ Ensure the compliance with the standard determined by QHSE Policy and safety procedures (as specified in the MSM), in order to perform the activity in a safe manner

▪ Report near misses and incident

▪ Ensure that the Tool box, JSA and RA are carried out as required

▪ Ensure the work permit system for the construction crew is adhered to and respected

▪ Manage the Crane operation activity including coordination with the Chief Mate for main crane movements on board, ROV launching and underwater operation

▪ Assist marine operations if required

▪ Provide construction report at the end of each shift

▪ Assist the Field engineer in the follow up of project equipment and consumable, operation and monitoring of the stinger and JLT

▪ Ensure the rigging gear used is within date and properly marked
